Since more people in America lose teeth to gum disease than they do cavities, we take periodontal disease seriously. Besides the traditional cleanings and Scaling & Root Planing, aka a “Deep Cleaning,” we’re one of the few Charlotte dentists to offer LANAPTM, or Laser Periodontal Therapy. With years of experience, Dr. Payet thinks LANAP is Da BOMB when it comes to treating moderate-to-severely advanced gum disease.
While we do our best to help you keep your natural teeth as long as possible, if teeth can’t be saved, Dr. Payet is able to do most dental extractions, although we work with excellent specialists for most wisdom teeth extractions.
When it comes to long-lasting dental fillings, both silver and tooth-colored, it’s all about proper technique, and Dr. Payet is meticulous, even perfectionist, for every step of every filling. The dental microscope allows him to treat cavities very conservatively, and with our Lightwalker dental laser, we do 80-90% of all our fillings as “No-Shot, No-Drill!” Just think about that for a second….and call us to find out how easy it really is.
When a tooth needs something stronger than a filling, usually because of how big it is, that’s when we recommend either an onlay or a crown; these can be made of porcelain, gold, or a combination. A gold onlay or crown is still the strongest, longest-lasting material around, but the newest porcelains, Emax and Zirconia, are also incredibly strong and should last a very long time, too.
Dr. Payet is among the very few general dentists to use a dental microscope during root canal treatment to ensure the most thorough and effective treatment. He is also one of the few dentists in Charlotte to offer “laser root canals” with the PIPS protocol, using the Lightwalker dental laser, which ensures the most thorough disinfection of the tooth possible. Together, these 2 remarkable high-tech tools allow Dr. Payet to make a root canal a remarkably easy procedure.
While we do our best to help our patients keep their natural teeth their whole lives, sometimes it just can’t be done for some reason. When one or more teeth are missing, one way to replace them is either Removable Partial Dentures or Complete Dentures, often called “plates.” We work with a terrific local dental lab to make dentures that are as beautiful and natural-looking as possible.
Another way to replace one or more missing teeth is with dental implants, which can support either individual crowns, a bridge, or even “snap-on” dentures that have custom attachments to hold them on snugly when eating and talking. For relatively easy cases, we can place your implant(s) right in our office, and for more difficult cases, we work with some excellent specialists in and around Charlotte.
With CEREC CAD/CAM technology, “digital dentistry” is truly here. It’s cool, it works, it’s comfortable, and amazingly convenient. With the CEREC AC Bluecam, we take digital impressions and avoid all that “gooey molds” stuff that no one likes in 95% of our cases. We can make all-porcelain crowns with the same materials that labs do, but right in our office, so no temporary crown and no second visit is needed. Even for the newest super-strong Zirconia ceramic bridges, the digital impression is at the lab before you’ve even left the office, and our lab usually has it back within a few days, not 2-3 weeks.
