Get Straight Teeth FAst with Invisalign —The Clear Alternative to Braces
Have you ever wished for a straight, white smile, but simply can’t imagine wearing braces? If so, have you heard about Invisalign? These clear aligners are virtually invisible, making them the perfect choice for people who are in the public eye.
How do Invisalign Aligners work?
The concept behind Invisalign is straightforward – we first determine with you where we want your teeth to be when we are done with your treatment. And in order to reach this goal, you wear a consecutive series of aligners that each serve to carefully move your teeth into the proper position. The only thing you have to ‘wear’ is the small, esthetic, temporary bondings we add to your teeth in order to hold the aligners in place.
For minor tooth movement, you will change aligners each week. For more significant tooth movement, we recommend you change aligners every 2 weeks. Most of the time, you will have appointments every 6-8 weeks.
Are YOU an Invisalign Candidate?
We offer a variety of options to suit the different needs our patients have. So what kind of patients do well with Invisalign®? To tell the truth—MOST patients are candidates. 😀
- Crooked teeth
- Spaces between your teeth
- Never had braces before
- Even if you had braces before
Improved Esthetics vs. Braces
One of the best features of Invisalign is that the aligners are clear. Most people won’t even know that you are in orthodontic treatment. When you smile for a picture, or when speaking to colleagues or friends, the clear aligners are practically invisible. Not even the clear, ceramic brackets that we use for patients needing braces instead are so clear. And if you really need to take them out, go right ahead. Just don’t forget to put them back in as soon as you can. If you don’t wear them, they don’t work. 😉
Who is Not a Good Candidate for Invisalign?
While there are many types of cases for it, we don’t always recommend Invisalign. Patients who need really significant tooth movement, or who have jaw size mismatches, still do best with brackets.
Here’s the most important question to answer, to know if you’re not a candidate for Invisalign: are you disciplined enough to wear the aligners 22 hours per day, every day, for 4-24 months? If you are, great! If you’re anything like me (very ADHD), generally forgetful, or tend to easily lose things like almost invisible plastic trays, then stick with braces.
