Laser Treatment for Periodontal (Gum) Disease

This is a truly exciting development for us, and it's one for which I've been waiting for FOUR YEARS until the time was right for us to add it: the Periolase MVP-7 Laser.  Just why is this so exciting? Several reasons:

It is the MOST EFFECTIVE treatment for PERIODONTAL (GUM) DISEASE currently availableIt is the MOST COMFORTABLE treatment for periodontal disease availableIt has the MOST PROVEN RESEARCH on treating gum disease of ANY laser currently used in dentistry.NO OTHER LASER can do the LANAP (Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure) protocol.  Seriously - due to both the physics of the laser beam and the design of the laser itself, as well as the fact that it is a FDA-approved and PATENTED protocol - no other laser used in dentistry today can do with the Periolase does.I've had to pass a Laser Physics Exam just to be given a license to use it! (OK, so maybe that's not exciting for you, but it's pretty cool for me - I haven't had to study physics in about 15 years! LOL)And there are other things for which the Periolase can be used, also, but for the treatment of periodontal disease, it is DA BOMB!

BTW - can you tell I"m excited!? Stay tuned, as I'll be adding more information in the very near future. Here are some informative videos to get you started in the meantime.

Periodontal (Gum) Disease - Why It's Important to YOU

Gum disease is one of those "silent" diseases; in other words, just like diabetes, it can cause major problems for your health before you're even aware that you have it. Often it will progress to the point that your teeth become loose and can't be saved before it ever becomes painful. In the past, when that happened, the only real option was to take out some or all of your teeth and give you dentures (also called "plates" or "falsies").

Naturally, that is NOT something most people want, but conventional gum surgery has been painful, resulted in a lot of sensitive teeth, and left your teeth looking really long, all because that surgery meant cutting off a lot of your gums to get rid of the areas where the bacteria were hiding.

What is even worse, though, is that science is now telling us - and pretty convincingly, too! - that gum disease is connected with other major health risks, including:

Increased risk of heart attackIncreased risk of strokePossibly increased risk of AlzheimersSignificantly worsened diabetesIncreased risk of premature births for pregnant womenAlso increased risk of low birth weight babies for pregnant women

Whoopi Goldberg talked about her experience with periodontal disease on an episode of "The View" not too long ago. Along with that video, watch the video on ABC News that covers the topic, too.

In this video, Dr. Dawn Bloore discusses all the consequences of gum disease, what happens if it's left untreated, as well as the options for treating gum disease.
